Bryan Acheampong Responds: “Stop Twisting My Words”

The campaign office of Hon. Dr. Bryan Acheampong has strongly refuted claims circulating on social media that suggest he blamed former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the Kusasi-Mamprusi conflict.

In a statement released on Saturday, Dr. Acheampong’s team described the viral video as a “mischievously edited” clip, stressing that his comments had been taken out of context. According to the campaign, Dr. Acheampong never accused Dr. Bawumia of fueling ethnic divisions but instead referred to him as a “victim of circumstance.”

The statement reaffirmed Dr. Acheampong’s respect for Dr. Bawumia’s leadership and his contributions toward peacebuilding, while also highlighting that tribal tensions were deliberately exploited by opposition parties during the 2024 elections to undermine the NPP in certain regions.

“Dr. Acheampong’s message is not about division. It is about uniting the NPP around a winning strategy and candidate. His campaign is anchored on unity, transparency, and results,” the statement emphasized.

The campaign further urged both party members and the general public to seek out the full recording of his remarks rather than relying on sensationalized short clips.

As the race toward the 2028 elections gathers momentum, Dr. Acheampong’s team says its focus remains on addressing Ghana’s deep-rooted challenges and building a movement capable of delivering a decisive victory for the New Patriotic Party.
