The children of the late highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, have publicly distanced themselves from the ongoing legal tussle over their father’s funeral and burial arrangements.
In a statement signed by Charlyn Fosuh on behalf of all Daddy Lumba’s children with Akosua Serwaa Fosuh, the family made it clear that they are not involved in the court case and have no interest in participating in any internal disputes.
“It has come to our attention that there is an ongoing court process regarding the funeral and burial arrangements of our beloved father, the late Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, affectionately known as Daddy Lumba,” the statement read.
“We, the children of Akosua Serwaa and Daddy Lumba, wish to clarify that we are not parties to this legal process and do not wish to be involved in any disputes or conflicts surrounding the funeral arrangements.”
The children emphasized that their sole desire is to celebrate their father’s memory in a dignified, peaceful, and respectful manner befitting his extraordinary life and legacy.
They further expressed unity and love for their late father, stressing that their focus remains on giving him a fitting farewell and honouring his contributions to Ghanaian music.
They also called on the public and media to handle discussions about their family and the legal proceedings with care and respect.
“We kindly ask the general public, especially the media and social media commentators, to be measured and respectful in their commentary regarding the family, any ongoing legal matters, and the funeral arrangements. We believe our father deserves a farewell that reflects the peace, dignity, and unity he valued in life,” the statement added.
This clarification follows reports that Mrs. Akosua Serwaa Fosuh, the widow of the late musician, and her children had filed an injunction to halt the funeral, which was originally scheduled for December 6, 2025.
Mrs. Fosuh had earlier alleged that the nuclear family was not consulted in planning the funeral.
In a related development, Mrs. Fosuh and the singer’s elder sister, Ms. Ernestina Fosuh, have also issued a separate joint statement calling for an independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding Daddy Lumba’s death. They claimed there were conflicting reports about how he died in Ghana on July 26, 2025, and appealed to both Ghanaian and German authorities to intervene.
The family’s internal tensions appear to have escalated following the injunction and the call for an international probe.
Nonetheless, Daddy Lumba’s children have reiterated their commitment to unity, peace, and preserving his legacy, choosing not to engage in further public disputes.
The legendary highlife musician, who passed away at age 60, left an indelible mark on Ghana’s music scene. His death in July 2025 sparked an outpouring of tributes from fans and colleagues, celebrating a career that profoundly shaped the sound and soul of Ghanaian highlife music.
