The essence of Attachment to a relationship – Okyeame Kwame share his story

When you are suffering because your girlfriend/boyfriend is leaving you , you are suffering an attachment

I am not an atheist because I appreciate the possibility of the unknown but I belong to no religion because I do not want to be limited by my choices , especially if it’s about existential matters . I used to be attached to many things and the images of many people . My religion , my children , my family , my car , my house , my friends , my body , my music , my health and my memories were all dead things that I couldn’t let go . When I came into the knowledge of attachments and why I was attached to dead things I set myself on a more stupid path to become detached . The delusion of false consciousness created a process to try to free myself and this created more conflict at the superficial level ( attachment verses detachment).

In my opinion , attachment is the desire to hold on to mental images of ideas , things

, people and experiences of the past so much so that one becomes afraid when the natural movement of that person or idea happens. Afraid your wife will sleep with a better man , afraid your religion will be criticized, afraid your child will not carry your legacy, afraid your country will lose in the Olympics , afraid that the image of an idea you hold (constant) on to dearly will fade away because every natural thing is constantly changing . Afraid that you will lose your body therefore you hold on to it with the possessive pronoun MY life . Everything you call mine (my) you will lose , so , the earlier you stop holding on to it , the earlier you enjoy freedom .

Nb: it is dangerous to create a pathway to detach yourself from your attachments , it will create more attachments.

Do you want to become free of attachments ?

1. You cannot be attached to a living thing . Your mind keeps images of an experience (pleasurable or painful) and keeps you locked in that loop causing you to die with the dead image . So, let go all images that cause your anxiety .

2. Understand that your socialization was supervised by a society who have very little ideas of the trappings of the mind . As an adult, look for your own truth . Know thyself .

3.look at things without prejudice or embellishment. Judgement is of the past and therefore limited , so don’t come to conclusions and hold on to them . Don’t live in the past .

4. Accept that life is fluid , volatile and unpredictable . Become one with life and let it flow through your ugly dance beautifully . Don’t be resistant to Change .

5. Love everyone, everything , every movement of the present and keep the past in the past . When the love for all things guides your path, the past will run away from your thoughts instantly
