The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has held an emergency meeting with the Savanna Regional Security Council (REGSEC) as fresh security reinforcements are deployed to Sawla and surrounding communities following violent clashes that erupted over the weekend.
The intervention is part of efforts to restore calm and prevent further escalation after the violence, which broke out on Sunday morning in Gbiniyiri, a farming community, during a heated land ownership dispute.
The confrontation quickly turned deadly, leaving several people injured. Authorities confirmed that six individuals were hospitalized, with three in critical condition and receiving treatment at nearby health facilities.
Security agencies say measures are being tightened on the ground to protect lives and property while investigations into the incident continue.
