Aspiring flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, has expressed his lack of concern over the party’s bigwigs not endorsing him. Dr. Duffuor, a former Minister of Finance and founder of the now-defunct Unibank, made this statement during a campaign tour to some constituencies in the Greater Accra Region.

Speaking to the media, Dr. Duffuor said that his focus is on the grassroots of the party, and he is confident that they will support his candidacy. He went on to say that he is not worried about the lack of support from the party’s bigwigs, as he believes that the grassroots are the ones who ultimately decide the party’s fate.
“I am not worried about the bigwigs not following me,” Dr. Duffuor said. “My focus is on the grassroots, and I am confident that they will support me. They are the ones who ultimately decide the fate of the party, and I believe that they will make the right decision.”

Dr. Duffuor’s comments come amid a growing sense of uncertainty within the NDC, as the party prepares to elect a new flagbearer to lead them into the 2024 general elections. Several high-profile members of the party, including former President John Mahama, have already declared their intention to contest the flagbearership.
Despite the stiff competition, Dr. Duffuor remains optimistic about his chances. He has been touring various constituencies in the country, meeting with party members and outlining his vision for the NDC.

If elected as the NDC’s flagbearer, Dr. Duffuor has promised to prioritize job creation and economic growth. He has also pledged to work towards building a more united and inclusive party, one that is open to the views and opinions of all members.
As the race for the NDC’s flagbearership heats up, it remains to be seen who will emerge victorious. However, with Dr. Duffuor’s focus on the grassroots, he may just have the support he needs to succeed.
